MIL-STD-129P (w/CHANGE 2), DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STANDARD PRACTICE: MILITARY MARKING FOR SHIPMENT AND STORAGE (10 FEB 2004)., This standard provides the minimum requirements for uniform military marking for shipment and storage. Additional markings may be required by the contract or the cognizant activity. The marking of shipments of supplies, equipment, and ammunition will be asspecified in this standard. Marking is "the application of numbers, letters, labels, tags, symbols, orcolors to provide identification and to expedite handling during shipment and storage."
